Toad Hollow Vineyards

Project Summary:  A Beloved California Wine Brand in Need of Evolution

In 2024, the "cult" wine brand Toad Hollow was purchased by War Room Cellars.  They reached out to the public asking about the evolution of the brand.


Peck-Studios replied with a brand identity, labeling and brand experience approach that played upon the beloved vintage storybook feel.  The general approach was to keep the brand equity largely intact, go all-in on the unique, embedded fantasy storybook approach, and up the game on the illustrations and shelf appeal.  


The use of two complimentary story lines was implimented.  A fantasy storyline that lets the mind wander and fantasize, and creates the memorable and engaging moments that will allure new customers and satisfy existing ones. And a second reality storyline speaks of the company, the winemaker, and the wine experience. Includes stories about the company employees and details of the wine and vineyards. Information should be simplified and a quick read to be more appealing to younger generations.


The design is vintage, fantasy-driven imagery, poetic stories, a storybook naming scheme, photographic perspective, magical-feeling color grading, and romanticized background image content that all help create a strong and memorable storybook brand feel. 


The brand approach is a combination of Magical/Fantasy/Storybook, Nostalgic, Nature, Romance, Casual Elegance, Heritage, Vintage, Adventurous Fantasy, Accessibility, and Nostalgia.

    DAOU Wines - Holiday Merch

    Project Summary:  Luxury Winery, Vineyards & Event Grounds

    Daou Vineyards is a family-owned winery located in Paso Robles, California. Located in the rugged Santa Lucia mountain range, the winery is known for producing high-quality wines from the Adelaida District, which is. Daou Vineyards is committed to sustainability and employs eco-friendly practices in its wine production.


    Working closely with the Daou Vineyards team, Julian Peck captured the excitement, holiday spirit, and enticing high quality of their seasonal merchandise. The photos captured and showcased the unique personality and atmosphere of the DAOU gift giving spirit, telling the story of the brand and customer experience. The photos were used to online, drive sales, and expand revenu channels.

    Toro Cellars - Terry Bradshaw

    Project Summary:  Wine Brand Development & Product Innovation

    Terry Bradshaw's financial group was looking to acquire several Italian vineyards, intending to create a range of wine brands and products. Julian, the creative development lead, was tasked with identifying potential wine markets, developing brand concepts, and creating unique products appealing to football fans. The project faced several challenges, including proving that wine could be marketed to football fans, using Bradshaw's celebrity status to market the wine, creating products that would be meaningful to an untapped market, and overcoming the snobby wine stigma to relate to a sporty consumer.


    To address these challenges, the team came up with several solutions. They subtly incorporated Bradshaw's name and signature on the packaging to leverage his brand equity, used football terminology to connect with football fans, created unique product lines that were approachable and unpretentious, and addressed the trend toward elevated premium yet casual experiences.


    Although the concepts were well-received, the financial group pursued something other than the vineyard purchase. However, the team considered the Toro project one of their favorite brand development experiences.
